Project "Gudenåsti - from source to fjord" has entered its final phase
At least when it comes to the trail itself. Still missing are information boards and pictograms as well as other sub-projects such as leaflets and dynamic communication of navigability. Below you can see fresh images from the many activities along the entire river. And more are on the way. So keep an eye on this page and the Gudenåen Facebook page.
Gudenåens Facebook pageThe Gudenå Trail in Vejle and Hedensted municipalities will be connected
Hedensted Municipality is nearing completion of the Gudenå Trail at Jomfruhale about 4 km west of Tørring. The path will be connected to the already established path on the Vejle side. This means that you can now walk dry-shod from the source of the river Gudenå to Tørring. Well, almost. Unfortunately, there is still a wet stretch between Jomfruhale and Tørring. There is a case in the House of Boards that will decide whether the preservation order allows the path to be improved here.
In the photo, Mikkel from Skovlykke Fritidshuse is inspecting the work. Close by, the Danish Nature Agency Trekantsområdet is erecting a shelter.
New toilet at Bredvadmøllevej
Horsens has completed another sub-project – a new toilet where Bredvadmøllevej crosses the river Gudenåen. This means that Horsens Municipality has completed all its sub-projects in the Gudenåsti project. The toilet will be part of the canoe landing area that will be established in connection with the major watercourse project at Bredvad Lake in Vestbirk in 2026. The toilet will be locked over the winter and until the inauguration of the trail on 28 March 2026.
Groundbreaking ceremony at Skimminghøj on December 17
On December 17 at 12 noon, Skanderborg Municipality will hold a topping-out ceremony for Skimminghøj Bådhus in Ry. The boathouse is part of an upgrade of Skimminghøj Teltplads and the largest of Skanderborg Municipality’s sub-projects. You can read more about the project via this link.
Himmelbjergruten and Trækstien are now connected in Silkeborg
The Gudenå Trail consists of the Himmelbjergruten and Trækstien trails. The two popular routes meet in Denmark’s Outdoor Capital – Silkeborg. And now they are connected by markings – from the harbor in Silkeborg to Andetorvet, where Trækstien begins. This makes them part of the Gudenå Trail – from source to fjord.
Improvements at Kongensbro
Silkeborg Municipality has made improvements on the stretch from Kongensbro to the municipal border with Favrskov. This means that access between Kongensbro and the Gudenå Trail towards Bjerringbro has been improved, and it has also become easier to visit the Høj Stene attraction – a reconstruction of one of Northern Europe’s largest Iron Age rock formations.
The Gudenå Trail at Langå
Randers Municipality has, among other things, raised and improved the path around Langå. The picture here is east of the Old Railway Bridge on the way to Langå Egeskov.
The Gudenå Trail between Fladbro and Stevnstrup
Between Fladbro west of Randers and Stevnstrup, Trækstien, which is part of the Gudenå Trail, has been improved – on some stretches, as here, by the construction of wooden paths.
