In Bjerringbro, volunteers build a replica of a Gudenåpram

Once the barge is completely finished, the plan is for it to be able to carry people—not paper, peat, and other goods, as it did in the 1800s.

The boat is 12 meters long and about half the size of a real Gudenåkåg. The barge was funded by the GudenåStiprojektet and the City of Viborg—the 12 men are volunteers, and they borrow the workshop and tools.

None of the 12 male volunteers has built a boat before. However, most of them have a background in skilled trades. They’ve also taken a trip to the Limfjord Museum in Løgstør and have been put in touch with a boatbuilder in Løgstør.
