How do I get back?

Going from A to B can present a challenge in terms of getting back to the starting point. Here are some recommendations:

  • On the northern route, you are well served by the train, with train stations in Randers, Langå, Ulstrup and Bjerringbro
  • On the middle stretch, in Søhøjlandet, there are also trains – between Silkeborg and Ry and with stations in Laven and Svejbæk. In addition, the Hjejle ferries and Solfergen sail between Skyttehuset Outdoorcamp and Ålekroen
  • The challenges are especially from source to Ry and from Silkeborg to Bjerringbro. Here it is recommended to book Flextrafik – read more here. During the summer, it is also possible to take the Modstrømsbus between Tørring and Ry – read more here.

Is the path wet?

Parts of the Gudenå Trail will be wet and occasionally flooded when the water level is high. This is the case when following Denmark’s longest river, which has a catchment area the size of Funen. Where the path can be very wet or flooded, there is the option to choose an alternative route around it. The most frequently flooded sections are Uldum Kær in the south and parts of Trækstien in the north.
