The stork meadow in Randers inaugurated
Storkeengen is a new recreational area right where Gudenåen meets Randers. First and foremost, however, the area must protect the city from flooding.
Bringing nature into the city
Right where Gudenåen meets Randers, an urban recreational area has been created. In addition to securing the basements in Randers against flooding, it has given the city and everyone who visits Randers a fantastic opportunity to walk in the middle of nature, very close to the city. The project is part of a major effort – under the name City to the Water or River City Randers – to protect the city from future flooding. On the other side of Gudenåen, Justesens Plæne – where you arrive in the city by canoe or on foot along Trækstien – is also being renovated to cope with the high water volumes of the future.
