On Tuesday, December 17, Museum Silkeborg inaugurated another trail in the project “In the Footsteps of the Past”, which is a collaboration between the museum, Silkeborg Municipality and the Danish Nature Agency – supported by the Nordea Foundation. One of the new things you will be able to experience at Alling Monastery is the interpretation – including signs, like the one pictured here, showing what the monastery looked like in the Middle Ages. Alling Monastery is one of many monasteries that were located close to Gudenåen in the Middle Ages. Read more about the monasteries of Gudenåen here, where you can also see an animation of Alling Monastery as it probably looked in the 14th century, in the animation of Gudenåen Monastery about 16 seconds into the animation.
